INNNA GADDA DA VIDDA started as one of those ideas that probably shouldn’t work — which is exactly why it was worth trying. The original belongs to the psychedelic rock world of the late 1960s. Heavy, hypnotic, strange, unmistakable. But underneath all of that was a song that could be twisted into something completely different. Country. That idea stuck around for years. At one point, Jimmy Stratton even got BR549 to play roughly 60 seconds of it at Robert’s Western World in Nashville — just enough to prove that the collision made sense. The Hank Colt version takes that psychedelic foundation and pushes it through a country lens: familiar enough to recognize, strange enough to make you stop, and exactly the kind of left turn Hank is built for. It is less about parody than transformation. Take something everybody thinks they know. Turn it sideways. See what survives.
